All modern browsers such as Safari, Firefox and Chrome. Special code used to support IE 8 or below.

Q: Do you have built in integration tools or does your solution only provide APIs?

We provide built in editing and scripting tools. Also provide full source code and example extensions.

Q: Do you offer both hosted and non-hosted solutions?

Yes, we install software on any hosting provider platform and also offer a managed hosting service for artists doing online media creation and collaboration.

Q: What is the pricing for your shared server cloud based solution?

For artists and media producers EnterMedia offers a $300 per month shared hosting package.

Q: Do you have dedicated server cloud based solution options? If yes, what is the pricing structure?

Managed enterprise dedicated hosting starts at $933 per month with 3 terabytes. We can also recommend hosting packages from Amazon, SoftLayer, Rackspace or Express Web Systems along with an EnterMedia extended support plan.

Q: Is there any storage limitation for the cloud solution?

Express Web Systems provides up to one terabyte drives out of the box with options to add more volumes as needed. Rackspace is currently limited on the size of the drives they provide on their cloud platform.

Q: Are there any traffic based fees for your cloud solution?

Not at this time.

Q: Do you have an option to license or purchase the source code for customization?

Yes.

Q: Can your product support multi-tenancy (multiple clients each accessing their assets with their own branding)?

Yes. Multi-catalog, multi applications. We can host hundreds of smaller sites on one server.

Q: Can a user upload and download multiple assets at one time? What is the maximum number at one time?

Yes, for normal usage we support HTML5 based multi-uploading. For larger number of transfers we recommend version control or remote hot folders.

Q: What is the Size limit to upload the asset for given type.

Not limited. We have uploaded 3Gig files.

Q: Can your product work with high speed transfer software to upload or download large files or a great number of files?

Yes, we have integration with Aspera and desktop uploaders.

Q: Do you have any tools to bulk migrate assets from a legacy system to your solution?

Built in SQL, Excel and Groovy import scripting allow for migration from most systems.

Q: Does your product support reading, editing and saving IPTC and XMP metadata?

Yes. Reads in both and has out of the box XMP tag writing.

Q: Is the IPTC and XMP metadata searchable?

Yes, of course.

Q: Are there any file types that your product does not support for uploading or viewing assets within your solution?

We support hundreds of types. Any that are not enabled can be easily enabled.

Q: How granular is user security?

Amazingly granular. Users, Groups, Roles, Libraries, Apps, Catalogs, Permission scripting etc.

Q: Is there any ability to create workflows within the application?

Yes, events, triggers and tasks are run automatically. Currently no visual workflow builder. Logic can edited using online data editors and Groovy scripts.

Q: Can a user email assets requiring the recipient to enter a password and without password for non organizational user?

Yes, based on permission of the asset

Q: Does your solution prevent duplicate assets from becoming uploaded? If yes, how is it checked?

Not out of the box. Duplicates can be found using a report.

Q: Does your solution check for viruses attached to assets before ingesting?

No, depends on 3rd party virus checking on server.

Q: Can you transcode images or video as a step when downloading assets?

Yes! Based on picking for a list of pre-defined profiles, EnterMedia will transcode on the fly and email you when finished if needed.

Q: What's the video resolution of the encoded video?

A: Go to Settings | Lists | Conversions | Video MP4 Preview

Q: Admin should be able to change asset's category (categories.png) in case user puts in the wrong spot. Is it in Application Rules? Which controls that?

A: Bug fix. Now look under Asset Edit Mode

Q: When I released an asset to two users (permission), the asset disappears from my view including Admin. But the two users can see it. You mentioned this is related to group permission. Is it controlled by Application Rule too? How can we fix that?

A: We now have a Admin Privacy permission that can be edited from Settings | Security | Asset Rules | Admin Privacy

Q: Back to encoded video resolution (need to know what's best source resolution to render better encoded video),

A: The default is 480p. This can be increased. You will need to make sure the original video is of high quality. It may be worth spending some time with FFMPEG command line to tweak the best settings. There are hundreds of tweaks that affect video quality vs size.

Q: Our users find you can right click save as mp4 file. Can that be prevented on the page?

A: In general any online video can be played and possibly captured to disk. We are not familiar with the right click option.

Q: How can I clear out bad files.

A: Settings | Events | Triggers | assetclear.html | run

Q: Is it possible to cross-reference or embed the same asset across multiple catalogs without duplicating its data?

A: Yes, we have multiple levels of doing this. One large catalog shared across multiple application instances. Each instance can have custom permissions and skins. Another option is a shared media folders across catalogs using the built in mounting or symbolic links. This allows unique metadata without duplicating thumbnails or original media.

Q: What products does EnterMedia Software offer?

A: EnterMedia is an open source, flexible media management platform including a Management Console, for creating catalogs and deploying any number of media repositories. We also include EM Share which is a skinnable, out of the box, web site comparable with well known media platforms such as YouTube, Flickr. EnterMedia also includes powerful,  enterprise grade, community driven extensions.

Q: Is EnterMedia proprietary or open source?

A: Fully open source. LGPL license

Q: What solutions does EnterMedia offer (Installed, Hosted, SaaS)?

A: Installed or your server or on your choice of Hosting Service. Most of our clients using a hosting solution choose Rackspace or Amazon to host EnterMedia running Linux, Windows or Mac server.

Q: What are EnterMedia's technical specs?

Server (Database)?
A: By default metadata is searched using a NoSQL approach using Lucene as the search engine. This allows clustering (ElasticSearch) and XML based storage for long term archival use. Using our SQL/JDBC Extension, modules can also be defined and use external SQL database tables on a module by module basis.

Data Migration and Importing?
A: EnterMedia database can defined to use event-driven import and export scripts to work with external systems, including CSV, XML, MySQL, SQL, Oracle, Or Web Services

EnterMedia runs within any standard Java web server such as Tomcat or Resin.
